HEC’s UK Alumni House – MBAs at Home away from Home in London

HEC’s second-largest alumni population resides in the UK, with more than 4,000 graduates engaging in 100+ events each year. The UK branch is highly active, thanks to the organization of alumni who facilitate regular gatherings and a representative office dedicated to promoting HEC programs and engaging with students and faculty.

Continuing to Cultivate a Vibrant HEC Alumni Community

The mission of the HEC Paris Alumni Association is to have an impact on the world at large by helping to cultivate conscientious thought leaders and businesses that contribute to a more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous world.

The UK Alumni House provides a welcoming environment for alumni to connect and collaborate through a variety of activities. HEC Paris MBA alumna Maria Martyak recalls the part the UK House played in her moving to London: “The UK Alumni House has been an invaluable asset to me. They helped me identify a great network of alumni in London when I was looking at a potential relocation for work many years ago.”

“Everyone at the House,” she recalls, “was extremely warm and welcoming, and the amount of – and range of – events they put on meant I got to meet a lot of other like-minded, and ‘like-experienced’ people to myself. Which is a huge asset when you're a foreigner in a new country.”

Maria went on to volunteer with the UK House, helping to organize and promote events there. “It’s a great way to give back, given that I'm a marketing professional.”

Raising HEC Paris’s profile in the UK and internationally

With over 4,000 graduates based in the UK, our Alumni House aims to bolster the reputation of HEC on the other side of the Channel and help connect current MBA participants and alumni to its strong alumni network in the UK and globally. By collaborating with UK companies, partner universities Franco-British institutions and alumni, the talented HEC community continues to make a name for itself around the world.

MBA Events at the UK House

The opportunities to visit the UK House are endless, as there are frequently events to attend for MBA students and alumni alike. Events like MBA Networking evenings are common, as well as more intensive experiences such as last fall’s Exploration Week when HEC professor Anastasia Buyalskaya taught a seminar called Behavioral Science for Investment, and Professor Shaheena Janjuha-Jivraj taught Diversity, Leadership and High Performance, Building Cultures of Belonging. This three-day experience was offered to HEC Paris Executive MBA and HEC Paris MBA participants, who made new connections with London-based peers.

Each April, MBA Clubs participate in Treks all over the world, and London is high on the list for those interested in finance topics like venture capital and private equity. Connections with London-based HEC alumni often result in invaluable meetings for current MBA students as they consider their next professional steps.
